Animation Speed: Tips --------------------- By default, the animation and speed settings are always set to a normalized viewing experience. If however, you want a faster experience, here are some of the options you can experiment with in the Play Options screen: 1) Play By Play Text Speed - this controls the delay of each new event that is shown in the PBP Text Window (From Very Slow to Very Fast). 2) Misc Options - there are six options in this group and they all affect pace of play. a) Animate Ball Flight - of course turning this off drastically reduces sim time. b) Hide On Field Play Result - this skips showing the result box when the ball is put into play at the end of every play. c) Disable Ambient Sounds - Unlikely to notice any appreciable difference. d) Show Due Up window - this is already turned off by default. e) On Field Result Box Delay (ms) - If you do have the On Field Play Result turned on you can control for how long it is shown (in milliseconds) on the screen. 1500ms is the normal set point. f) Show Pitch By Pitch - {New} - toggles on/off pitch-by-pitch sequence for each at-bat. A short cut way of comparing players. b) Discipline - hitters plate discipline at avoiding K's. c) Strength - replaces 'power'; no longer applies just to homeruns. e) Agility - replaces 'range'; no longer applies just to whether player gets to the ball. f) Accuracy - throwing accuracy influences two dynamics: throwing errors, and ability to turn double-plays/make assists, either by infielders/outfielders. The Hands rating still influences fielding errors as it always has. g) Command - pitchers ability to control the strike zone and avoid the extra base hits. h) Movement - pitchers wth good movement will influence strike outs. i) Stamina - this takes the place of what used to be accomplished by 'endurance'. It is the max number of pitches the pitcher is capable of. j) Endurance - no longer has anything to do with number of pitches or how many innings a pitcher may last. It is now soley used in calculating player fatigue, injury, effectiveness, along with Rest value and consecutive games pitched. k) Intelligence - intelligence here is relevant only to the players smarts at running the bases; Base-Stealing is still relevant to the players Speed. l) Values - the six values are what will motivate players when deciding type of contract to offer in terms of amount and/or years. m) Traits - the four traits can influence the outcome of plays (Leadership & Morale), how hard the player works in the offseason to improve (Work-Ethic), and his aggressiveness towards baserunning and attempting throw-outs (Competitiveness). Most laptops will not work. 2) Preseason Predictions - Each new season the final standings in 'real' baseball can be found here. Its a way to compare how your team is doing compared to how it did in real life that year. 3) Players of the Week/Month - Each week, a hitter and pitcher are chosen as Players of the Week from each league. Each month, a hitter & pitcher are chosen as Players of the Month. Players of the Month are considered an Award and are tracked on the Players Achievement tab on the Player Card. 4) Game Options - the Game Options screen now contains all the options on one large screen instead of four different tabs. 5) Events - In the lower left of Main screen (and most other screens) is the Events log - this tells you important dates that will take place for the current season (Spring Training, Opening Day, Trade Deadline, Expanded Rosters, End of Season, Playoffs Begin, Amateur Draft Begins). I found that the Trade Deadline occured on different dates in the history of baseball. The game now follows this history. 6) HTML Almanac - the old Create Dynasty HTML function was renamed to HTML Almanac. Each new season, the HTML Almanac is automatically created for you just before the season begins. 7) Post-Season Editor - At the beginning of each post season series you can change the visiting/home team matchup. This is useful if you have multiple tied teams and the game should select the wrong winner between tied teams. 8) To open a team page from the Game screen you now click the team logo. 9) New saber stats are now tracked (wOBA, WAR, Isolated Power, Extra Base Hits, Total Bases, Hits/9IP, HR/9IP, BB/9IP, K/9IP, K/BB, WHIP, FIP). 10) Fielding Leaders - now in addition to Batting/Pitching Leaders, a Fielding Leaders board exists to find leaders in Fielding PCT, Put-Outs, Assists, Errors, Double-Plays Turned, Range Factor, and Passed Balls. 11) League Filter - All of the stats for Hitting/Pitching/Fielding Individual Leaders can now be filtered by either the AL or NL. 12) The SBN has went through extensive work/re-work. Most importantly, all of the fonts are now more uniformed and the same size. It used to be a hodge-podge of mixed sizes and it was very annoying. 13) Pre-Season - content contains the Power Rankings, Most Feared Pitchers, Most Feared Hitters, and the Preseason Dream Team. 14) SBN: Regular Season - Content is still pretty much the same as it was except first of each month you will be shown the Players of Month just completed. 15) SBN: Post-Season - Content is much the same, although I did fix the problem of Silver Slugger award not showing for Right Fielders. Also, included is the All Rookie Team, Players of the Year, and Defensive Players of the Year. 16) Navigation - By hitting the Previous Issue button, you can move to the previous issue of SBN; continue clicking and you move to the off-season issue and the previous season issues. By hitting the First Issue, you now will be taken to the very first issue in your first season of your association. 17) Game Records - the game now tracks key stats for each regular season game. It will also track Hits For Cycle and No-Hitters/Perfect Games in addition to all the other key stats. 18) Annual Awards - As mentioned earlier, you can now see who Players of the Month were for both leagues since the beginning of your association. 19) Hall of Fame - now includes player picture, year retired, year elected, the team logo from the team he played the most games with, and the team names he played with. Note: the team names will reflect the name of the team AT THE TIME he played with them. Any awards for Player of the Year, Player of the Month, Def Player of the Year are now shown on the Hall of Fame plague. 20) Won/Loss Records - Single Season Records have been expanded to Top 15 and they will show the correct historical team name for that season. The All Time Team Records will show the current team name. 21) SBN Archives - If you want to jump back to a specific year in your SBN you can select the year and you will be taken to the first issue for that year. 22) Create HTML Almanac - This function used to be called Create Dynasty HTML; it has been moved here to the Almanac Menu. This HTML Almanac is automatically created for you at beginning each season (see #6 above). However this function exists should you ever need to create this HTML during the course of the season. 23) Hitting Streaks - This tracks the Top Hitting Streaks throughout the history of your association. 24) Major League Baseball changed the 15-Day DL stint to 10-Day DL stint beginning with upcoming 2017 season. This change has been implemented in code in the game. Of course, it will have no bearing in the game until the 2017 Lahman Database is released. 25) The background graphics on most screens will show a real Hall of Fame player (with some exeptions: ie., Shoeless Joe Jackson, etc). As new players are inducted into MLB their pics will be included in the game - provided a large enough pic can be found/resized. 26) Annual Player Moves - To compensate for the loss of Actual Transactions feature, I implemented this option when creating an association. This will move players to their proper teams at beginning of each season - provided the player was not traded within the last 5 years. This stipulation was included because it was thought that if a player was traded (either by the AI or human) then the player should at least have 5 seasons to help his new team. This option does override the Team Affinity option. A separate .zip file will be available containing every baseball player from 1900's to 2010's. You can unzip the files to your \mods\faces\[decade] sub-folder manually. All historical manager faces will be provided by the installation and they include the new managers for 2013 season. 3) Park Photos - 1024x768 .jpg format. We still support 1024x768 park photos. But, because the photo will be stretched to 1366 width when used in the game, any custom park/photo you import will also need to have all fielders, runners, and ball flight locations modified in the games Modify Park section.
